| In the heartland of America is a small organic farm named Teardrop. The farm was given to the youngest son of seven children when the estate of Herman and June Pitts was settled.
Hello, Im that youngest son and my name is Terry. I worked with my dad on this farm from about 1967 until his death in 1992. Sometimes the last thing a teenager wants to be is with their parents, but it was this piece of earth that brought us closest together. My mind was filled with these thoughts along with all the memories and tears of joy and sadness that surround every family when I took over the farm and named it Teardrop. I took over stewardship of this little piece of land in the summer of 1991 turning it into a totally organic operation that year. I have a sincere feeling for quality over quantity and balance and harmony over mega doses of synthetic fertilizers and pesticides. I am not here to judge. We all have our own challenges to meet the demands of living in this world, but I find personal satisfaction in my method of farming and feel Im making a contribution to people of like mind. Teardrop Farm is located on the edge of a small farming community in central Kansas. If you open your Atlas to the center map showing the entire United States you will find Sterling located in the crease of the two pages. Truly the heart of this country. We lie in the fertile Arkansas river valley. Ive been told Kansas is the leading state in wild echinacea stands. Making this the most natural area for quality cultivation. I could go on and on about my farm. My successes and unfortunately my many failures but then that wouldnt leave us with anything to talk about when you stop by for a visit. If you cant make it by anytime soon e-mail me at tpitts@teardrop-farm.com. |
